Epoxy resin is a two-component product, which requires a catalyst for its polymerization or curing.

The catalyst for epoxy resin enamels, also known as component B, or hardener, has the function of hardening the enamel by means of the heat it provides when mixed with the epoxy resin.. It is for this reason that the catalyst is a critical element to achieve the desired result during the glazing of parts and products.

Depending on the morphology of the part, we determine which type of catalyst is the most suitable. There is a catalyst for every application, but you have to know how to select it right from the start. A correct choice of catalyst allows the enameling of pieces with all types of morphologies: flat, with edge, without edge, curved, semi-curved, etc.

In order to be able to successfully enamel any type of piece, CONIEX markets several types of catalysts, among which the following stand out:

Color customization using liquid epoxy dyes

Liquid epoxy colorants come in a variety of colors, and can be combined with each other to create high intensity colors, customized to the user’s preferences. By adjusting the amount of colorant added to the resin, it is possible to achieve different color intensities, from softer, pastel shades to more saturated, vibrant colors. This allows great flexibility to adapt the color to specific artistic, decorative or industrial projects.

Transparent colors

One of the most interesting aspects of liquid epoxy colorants is that they can be used to obtain transparent colors. Once added to the epoxy resin, they allow light to pass through it. This is especially useful when coloring effects are desired on transparent surfaces, such as windows, resin jewelry, decorative objects and more.

It is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the amount of liquid epoxy colorant to be added to the resin to achieve the desired color.

Application of a liquid colorant for epoxy resin

Combining liquid epoxy colorants with a resin, preferably colorless, is an excellent way to add color and customize the clear enamel finish.

This combination provides a wide range of creative possibilities for adding color and customization to art, decorating and cladding projects, while maintaining the clear, glossy appearance of the finish.

The general process for combining the two elements is described below:

  • First, it is necessary to mix the epoxy resin with the colorant to obtain the desired color. The amount of colorant added will determine the intensity of the final color. It is important to add the colorant in small amounts and mix well before deciding if more is needed to achieve the desired shade.
  • Once the resin and colorant are completely mixed, the catalyst (hardener) is added according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It is essential to follow the indications regarding the curing time required for the colored enamel.

Once the mixture is ready, it can be applied on the surface or in the desired mold. Depending on the application, it can be applied with a manual or automatic glazing machine, spatula or specific tools to distribute and level the resin.
